Cultivated at an altitude of between 1500 and 1700 meters, the Kakondo cooperative is located directly around the coffee plots, in the mountains of the Virunga National Park.

Concerned about maintaining traditional agricultural techniques, no pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used by the cooperative.

Certified organic, the coffee plants benefit from the environmental wealth of the park which ensures lasting soil fertility. The park is notably home to the second largest community of Bonobo monkeys on the planet.

The coffee cherries take the time to develop in the shade of the jungle trees, then are harvested manually before being processed, pulped and sorted one by one by the members of this committed community...
